Generational Wealth

"the most sacred pieces of generational wealth are the moments we get with our loved ones, the stories shared and the lifelong wisdom whispered into our souls, the recipes we reuse with our own children, and the immense amount of love poured into our beings through raising us up."

This is an excerpt from my sisters recent substack post "Generational Wealth" and I couldn't have said it better myself as to the many ways generational wealth shows up in our lives.  No surprise, I agree that generational wealth comes in forms much greater than money.

I continue to call this year, one of pause.  The word "pause" in a fast paced culture can feel counter intuitive.  Sometimes what seems counter intuitive can be intuitive.

I was in Savannah, Georgia booking flights to Thailand, when I got a call from my brother that my dad was in the hospital.  I felt so far away.  My dad has had a life threatening event every year for the past 3 years.  And every time, he has come back home.  There will be a time when he does not.  There will be a time when when each of our souls will not come back to our earthly home.  We have been lucky the last few years with my dad.  And maybe it's a little more fate than luck.  I don't really know.  But I do know, Thailand can wait.  Right now, we feel grateful we have the flexibility to make Huntington Beach a stop.  Traveling is grounding and reminds us of what's important.  We are honored to be able to model for Shea and Kaeda, the importance of family.  We look forward to time with my dad, the parents, grandma, siblings, neices/nephews, and close friends.

So here we are trading one beach for another (Thailand for Huntington). We'll be home around 2.5 months.  One might say, we're protecting our generational wealth.
